Messina Hof has deep ties to one of the teams playing in the upcoming 2011 Texas Bowl. The 2011 Meineke Car Care Bowl of Texas will be held on December 31, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Reliant Stadium and will be televised nationally on ESPN. The Texas A&M Aggies, from the same Texas town as Messina Hof Winery and Resort, will face off against the Northwestern Wildcats in a North versus South showdown.

Messina Hof is the most awarded winery for the third consecutive year in the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Wine Competition. Messina Hof Winery, with 23 awards, was the most awarded Texas winery. Along with winning the most awards, Messina Hof was named “Best of Herd” and was awarded the “Best of Class” medal for their Cabernet Franc Cedar Crest Vineyard 2009.

On Saturday, January 22, 2011, at a special VIP reception, Paul and Merrill Bonarrigo unveiled the site of the new 10 acre resort being built in Gillespie County.
