Paul Anthony Bonarrigo Finally Joins the Family

07.30.12

The first week of harvest was most eventful.

We harvested Paul Anthony Bonarrigo on July 19, 2012. He weighed 7 pounds 15 ounces, was 19 inches long, and had more hair than I have ever seen on a newborn.

Sophia Marie was excited to hold her new “Bayba Bedder”, which means, baby brother.

We enjoyed a perfect harvest of Lenoir with our annual harvest festivities.  The first Big Kahuna winner for 2012 was an amazing woman, Marianne Henry. She performed a courageous Tai Chi talent movement AND it was her 72nd birthday.

What a great way to begin the 2012 Vintage.  The Lord has truly blessed us indeed again.

Making great wine is such a team effort.  It involves the lab technicians, the growers, the people working in the vineyard, the wine cellar workers, and the winemakers.  It is truly like a symphony making great music.

Even in a great year like 2012, there are challenges – fruit that is ripening rapidly, scheduling harvest crews, coordination of refrigerated trucks from vineyards, staggered harvesting of different varieties, and managing all the different grape variety fermentations to maximize the potential of that wine.

Just as it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a team united with the purpose of making great Texas wines.

Hope to see you at harvest.
