Port Jefferson, New York

Since we arrived at Port Jefferson early, Paul decided to head into town. We found the Pindar tasting room within two blocks. Two ladies helped us make our tasting selections. Our favorite was the Late Harvest Gewurztraminer. The shop was filled with beautiful baskets designed to delight Christmas recipients.
From the tasting room, we rolled with our bags down Main street to the Steam Room where we enjoyed real New England Clam Chowder which went perfectly with an unoaked Chardonnay that we selected. Paul had been looking forward to the New England Cherry Stones all trip. He prefers Gewurztraminer with his clams. Here he was able to satisfy that appetitie as well.
As we sat and watched the ferry arrive, we said good bye to a town with uncanny links to Paul. It was named Port Jefferson after Thomas Jefferson, on March 7th, Paul’s birthday.
