Semi Sweet Wines still the hottest

10.27.08

The Fredericksburg Wine and Food Festival is always one of our favorite events in Texas.  The people of Fredericksburg are so welcoming (willkommen-ing) and festival staff is so organized and does such a good job.  This year was no exception.  The weather was perfect with not a cloud in the sky.  Messina Hof poured our Pinot Grigio, Gewurztraminer, Beau Jolee, and Barrel Reserve Port.  Of all the wine sold, the Beau Jolee sold the most bottles.  Some came to taste it because they had heard about the French attack on our label. Others were looking for a red that was not dry and tannic.  Beau Jolee fit the bill.  It is just light enough to go with just about any food and is an easy drinking wine to enjoy while listening to music or just kicking back on the patio visiting with friends.  I would say the Beau Jolee is the Riesling of red wines.  Since Riesling is our number one selling white wine, Beau Jolee is the perfect red wine for our faithful Riesling lovers.  The Beau Jolee goes with any food the Riesling appreciates.

One of traditional stops in Fredericksburg is the Fredericksburg Brewing Company.  They make wonderful beers and serve Texas wines, too.  Thank you!  I have to go there for my annual fix of sausages and kraut.  “Sausage Sampler Sausage made fresh right here in Fredericksburg! One link of Knockwurst, Bratwurst and Pepperwurst. Served with your choice of two sides. $9.99″

Overall, I was glad to see so many people still getting out to enjoy the wine festivals even with the economy’s questionable mood.  It seems that wine drinkers enjoy themselves regardless of the economic weather forecast.  It was great to see all of our friends out there!  Cheers!
