A Romantic Wine for a Romantic Time

02.14.17

Valentine’s is a day of sweet candy and sweet gestures – so why not add in a sweet wine? Messina Hof’s Angel Late Harvest Riesling is a dessert wine born from the winery’s romantic past. Named after the stone carved angels at Messina Hof Estate, Angel reflects one of Messina Hof’s founding cornerstones; romance.

A Short History: During a whirlwind year, 40 years ago, Paul Vincent Bonarrigo and Merrill Ann Mitchell married and began the couple’s project of planting a vineyard and making wine. One of the early wines crafted by Paul and Merrill was Angel. Through the years, the wine emerged as a success even becoming the first Texas wine to score a 90 in the Wine Spectator! Today, Angel Late Harvest Riesling is now known as one of Messina Hof’s iconic wines.

About the Wine: A crisp dessert wine, harvested from the last pick of Riesling grapes grown in the Texas High Plains, Angel is fermented slowly at very cool temperatures to preserve the aroma. This wine is an International Double Gold Winner and Champion at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and was ranked by USA Today as one of the top ten regional wines in the USA.

Pairing & Serving Suggestions: Pair this heavenly sweet treat with fruit, cheesecake and light chocolate desserts. Serve chilled at 45 degrees F.
