The Wine Pump is used by holding the pump over the center of the rubber stopper, and then pumping several times in an up and down motion.  Pumping is ceased when firm resistance in pumping is felt.

How does a wine pump work?

The Wine Pump works by pumping out the air, leaving a vacuum on top of the wine.  By properly sealing the bottle, the process of oxidation is stopped.  Oxidation has been known to turn a Merlot into vinegar!

How much longer does a bottle of wine last when stopped with a Wine Pump compared to a cork?

Most models are known to preserve an opened bottle of wine up to 14 days longer than corking alone.
