From the Cellar

03.19.12

Springtime is the time of year the vineyards awaken; bud break begins followed by the process of flowering. The grape vines at Messina Hof truly come-to-life in the spring. Springtime’s bright-sunny weather quenches our thirst for a cold glass of wine!

Our palettes crave lighter-bodied wines with racy acidity and light aromas and flavors such as: Messina Hof’s Unoaked Chardonnay or Sophia Marie Rose’

Messina Hof’s Unoaked Chardonnay is harvested from our most northern vineyards. Our Unoaked Chardonnay has developed a clean, crisp, aromatic flavor and is wonderfully balanced with fresh, tropicalfruit. This wine pairs nicely with lobster, shrimp, chicken, turkey and rich buttery sauces.

Sophia Marie Rose’ is grown in our Messina Hof Vineyard from the estate-grown Lenior grape. Sophia Maria Rose’ is young and crisp with a touch of sass! The wine is named in honor of Paul and Merrill’s first grandchild Sophia Marie. The wine, beautiful by herself also compliments light meats, seafood, cheese and melon making it the perfect companion to the warm spring weather.

These springtime wines compliment the vegetables and fruits that are ripe this time of year.
