Harvest Is Almost Complete

08.05.13

Harvest 2013 is almost finished here at the Messina Hof Bryan estate. We have our final Harvest Weekend kicking off on Friday, August 2nd with an intimate Barrel Tasting with winemaker, Paul M. Bonarrigo. Our Wine Glassfinal Daytime Harvest will be on Saturday, August 3rd, and it is sure to be huge party. Last weekend we picked Lenoir grapes that bled dark ruby juice, so this weekend I would anticipate inky black juice – Perfect for Messina Hof’s award-winning ports! I have had the honor of presenting our Private Reserve Papa Paulo Port 2007 during the tasting portion of Daytime Harvest, as well as the Tawny Port during the Food and Wine Pairing Session for the past few weeks. Now I crave Blue Bell Vanilla Ice Cream and Messina Hof port all the time! The spectacular menu for Saturday’s Grand Finale Dinner is out-of-this-world, and we have an extra special wine choice for tomorrow evening’s dessert that I am beyond excited to experience. Join us at Grand Finale Dinner to share in the evening!

Every year since Sophia Marie was born, Paul and I have enjoyed watching Sophia participate in the stomping during Harvest. When she was six weeks old we captured her tiny footprints on a little Onesie, and each year her footprints have grown bigger. Paul Anthony’s 9-day old footprints were even smaller when we stained his first shirt last year. Last week we were honored to celebrate our annual stomping tradition. Sophia Marie and Paul Anthony dunked their feet into the Lenoir grapes, and we successfully stained another pair of shirts.

Our inaugural Harvest at Messina Hof Hill Country in Fredericksburg will take place on Saturday, August 10th. The Bonarrigo Family (including kids) will be making the trek out the Hill Country to celebrate Harvest that weekend. Please make your reservations for Harvest and our afternoon Music Festival to share in the monumental Messina Hof event with us!
