Here Comes Spring… Bud Break at Messina Hof Winery!

Sunday marks the first day of Spring and the vines at Messina Hof Winery in Bryan are waking up to enjoy the sunshine! No really, they are… Bud break is here! Bud break is the beginning of the grape’s (at Messina Hof the Lenoir grape’s) annual growth cycle. As temperatures warm up, energy from carbohydrates stored during dormancy cause buds to swell and eventually burst or break. This beautiful part of the grape cycle won’t last long, continuing through March.
