Messina Hof takes home the gold at San Antonio!

Messina Hof Winery & Resort, the fastest-growing award winning winery in Texas, left the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Wine Competition with one of its most prestigious awards to date.

A highly experienced and talented panel of wine critics recognized Messina Hof as “Best of Herd” Winery, or best Texas winery, and Messina Hof  wins a Gold Medal in the People’s Choice awards. Messina Hof’s, Chenin Blanc, was declared “Grand Champion White.”

Award winning wines will be showcased throughout the 2010 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo February 4 – February 21, 2010, and will be celebrated during a tasting and food pairing at the 33rd Annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo’s Go Western Gala on Saturday, January 16, 2010. To mark the rodeo’s first-ever wine competition, the theme for this year’s gala is “Wine & Rodeo.”

Chenin Blanc is liquid Texas sunshine. By fermenting cold using a northern Italian yeast strain, the wine exhibits wonderful fruit forward flavors…tropical fruits and pears with hints of rose petals. It’s also bottled cold to retain it’s natural CO2 which creates a lively mouth feel. It’s particularly flavorful which Cajun or blackened seafood, strong-flavored cheeses and low-fat dishes.
