MESSINA HOF TAKES THREE GOLDS IN 2015 TEXSOM INTERNATIONAL WINE AWARDS (TIWA)
TIWA, with presenting sponsor Texas Monthly, has become a top U.S. wine competition
BRYAN, TEXAS – April 1, 2015 – Messina Hof Winery, a leader in the establishment of the Texas wine industry and one the fastest-growing and most award-winning wineries in the state, announced today it won 21 medals – including three gold – at the 2015 TEXSOM International Wine Awards (TIWA).
The Gold Medals were presented for Messina Hof’s:
·Cabernet Franc Barrel Reserve Texas, 2012
·Cabernet Sauvignon, Barrel Cuvée, Texas, 2013
·Papa Paulo Port Double Barrel, Texas, 2010
“The pairing of high quality wines and world-class wine experts is a tremendous testament to the rapidly growing wine culture in Texas,” said Messina Hof Chief Executive Officer and Winemaker Paul M. Bonarrigo. “With three gold medals and 18 additional medals awarded at TIWA, Messina Hof stands shoulder to shoulder with some of the most prestigious wines of the world. In all, Texas wineries garnered 23 gold medals (156 total gold, silver and bronze). There were 3,600 entries in the competition.”
The newly-branded wine competition, presented now by Texas Monthly, has evolved in its 30-plus-year history to become one of the top wine competitions in the United States. The blind-judging took place in February near Dallas, by nearly 70 wine experts including Master Sommeliers and Masters of Wine from around the country.
“We’re thrilled to have won these medals for our wines,” Bonarrigo says. “We look forward to supporting Texas Monthly on future TEXSOM competitions and for the opportunity to share some of Messina Hof’s newest premium vintages being released this Spring.”
