Updates From the Vineyard

06.24.11

Welcome to summer! It is amazing to think that Harvest is just around the corner. We are so excited to celebrate the vineyard with you. The rain we received this week refreshed the vines and perked up the lush, green leaves. They are set to produce an extraordinary vintage. Such a blessing!

Paul and Merrill are in the midst of traveling this week. They journeyed first to Fredericksburg to check on the new winery. The rafters are up and the building shapes for the retail area and bed and breakfast cottages are looking great. We thrilled to report that we are on track for the grand opening in October. After a quick stop in Austin, they continued their travels to Lubbock where they observed the progress of our High Plains vineyards. On Tuesday night they celebrated with our grower families at Café J in Lubbock with fabulous food and wine pairings. Sophia Marie Rose was a hit with everyone! Paul and Merrill are currently driving to Colorado for the Telluride Wine Festival, where Glory, our late harvest Muscat Canelli, will be featured. I cannot wait to hear stories from their trip!

In more personal news, Sophia Marie is continuing to grow and learn faster than we ever imagined. She is almost ready to walk, and her personality is coming through stronger each day. We had a wonderful time celebrating Father’s Day this past Sunday as a family. Sophia Marie is truly a daddy’s girl, and my heart melts each time I watch her and Paul M. together. Paul M. went earlier this week to the Austin/San Antonio area with our sales team to promote Messina Hof wines. Continue to be on the lookout for Messina Hof wines at your favorite restaurants!

Best wishes,
Karen
