What Exactly is a “Library” Wine?

09.07.18

At Messina Hof locations you can explore our collection of library wines. But what exactly does this mean? Library wines is a popular term in the wine industry that describes particular vintages reserved by the Winemaker to be re-released or sold exclusively years after its initial debut. The name comes from wineries who would store these wines in their private cellars referring to them as “libraries.”

So, why buy Library Wines? Not only do these wines reflect a piece of Messina Hof’s history, wines are consistently taking on new life as they age. Next time you visit the winery, ask about a special vintage!
