What is it that Makes Some Wine Better, When it’s Aged Longer?

11.03.10

Many factors affect the aging potential of wines. Certainly the styles of the wine and the vintage year have dramatic effects. However, the way a wine is stored has much to do with it.

A wine that is stored in a cool cellar environment around 65 degrees in a dark place of constant humidity has a much longer life potential than one that is stored in light or heat.

That is why you want to invest in a wine refrigerator or store the wines in the coolest part of your home.  Many builders create wine racks for aesthetics in the kitchen where there is much heat. This is not a good place to store wine.
