Messina Hof’s Spring Wine Release

Each year Messina Hof debuts new vintages and new wines at the Spring Wine Release Dinner and at the wine premiere in the fall. It was the honor of the Bonarrigo ladies to hostess our guests and to introduce the new wines and vintages at Spring Wine Release 2012, as Paul VI and Paul VII were in Lubbock, Texas, at a grower’s conference.

New Wines Released:
2011 Pinot Grigio
Our Pinot Grigio, the Italian version in the style of Sauvignon Blanc, is crisp, floral and clean.
2011 Unoaked Chardonnay
The Chardonnay for Pinot Grigio lovers! Fruity and fresh and called Chardonnay.
2011 Riesling Father and Son
2010 Private Reserve Cabernet Franc
A gold medal winner at the San Antonio Express News and the Lone Star International Wine Competition.
2010 Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

This wonderful blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, has complex, spicy tones of pepper, blackberry and vanilla.
2011 Mistella Late Harvest Young Vineyard
An excitingly fragrant and fruity wine that perfectly complements seafood, spicy cuisine, pasta and fruit.

Also Released:
2009 Private Reserve Pinot Noir
Rich and elegant in a Burgundian style, aged European and American oak, this lovely Pinot complements light meats, pasta and grilled seafood.
2010 Private Reserve Zinfandel
2011 Angel Riesling Late Harvest
“Angel” is a crisp, sweet dessert wine, harvested from the last pick of Riesling when the grapes are like raisins.

All guests enjoyed a four course dinner prepared by the Vintage House Restaurant.

Fried Green Tomato Napoleon
Cornmeal encrusted fried green tomatoes, layered with a homemade Pinot Grigio remoulade sauce on a bed of baby spinach with an essence of balsamic extraction.

Triple Berry, Feta, and Walnut Spinach Salad
Fresh baby spinach topped with fresh strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, feta cheese and walnuts. Dressed with a Riesling balsamic vinaigrette.

Surf and Turf
A 6 oz. filet of tender beef topped with garlic shrimp. Served with basil chive mashed potatoes, balsamic glazed brussel sprouts, and honey glazed carrots.

Ivory Port Fresh Fruit Tart
Fresh sliced strawberries, kiwis, blueberries, and mandarin oranges tossed with Ivory Port delicately placed on top of a sweetened cream cheese filling.
