Veraison has begun at Messina Hof Estate in Bryan! But, what is veraison? A French term, veraison is the short stage in the ripening process when the firm, green berries begin to soften and change color.

There’s more than meets the eye during this process. During this time, the grapes are increasing in volume, weight and sugar content. The grapes will continue to ripen until they are ready to be picked in July.
