Wine and Chocolate WOW : Messina Hof Gewurztraminer 2012 with a pumpkin mousse filled chocolate cup!

Tonight I went to my weekly wine and chocolate night at the Winebar at Messina Hof. It was such a pleasure to experience what the kitchen and our server team had designed for the pairings. We served the new 2012 Gewurztraminer with a pumpkin mousse filled chocolate cup created by our Vintage House culinary staff. Also included were the reliable port wine truffle with the Private Reserve Port 2007 and the Aggie Network Legacy Bin 12 to go with both food pairings. All pairings were good but the Gewurztraminer and pumpkin mousse was one of those rare WOWs that make you stop in your tracks.

Gewurztraminer is a natural pairing for pumpkin pie spices. We even have a term called “Gevurkey” that highlights how perfect Gewurztraminer is with Thanksgiving delights. Those great pumpkin spices were the secret ingredient in the pumpkin mousse that made the Gewurztraminer sing!
